Glacier National Park in Montana

Glacier National Park in Montana

"Glacier National Park is a 1,583-sq.-mi. wilderness area in Montana's Rocky Mountains, with glacier-carved peaks and valleys running to the Canadian border. It's crossed by the mountainous Going-to-the-Sun Road. Among more than 700 miles of hiking trails, it has a route to photogenic Hidden Lake. Other activities include backpacking, cycling and camping. Diverse wildlife ranges from mountain goats to grizzly bears.

"Currently 15.5 miles of the Going-to-the-Sun Road are open for travel. Visitors can drive 2.0 miles from the West Entrance to Foot of Lake McDonald, and 13.5 miles from the St. Mary Entrance to Jackson Glacier Overlook."
"The section of the road between Foot of Lake McDonald and Jackson Glacier Overlook is closed due to the weather. On the west side from Foot of Lake McDonald to Logan Pass the road is closed due to fire danger. On the east side from Logan Pass to Jackson Glacier Overlook the road is closed due to winter weather conditions."

"Last week, Glacier National Park in Montana received its first snow of the season. While it closed Going-to-the-Sun Road from St. Mary to Logan Pass for a short time, that section of the road has reopened, offering visitors as chance to enjoy a beautiful, wintery world.
